We built this because we needed it to exist.
In early 2026, we were burning over $500/month on AI tools that promised the world and delivered a fraction. Sound familiar?
We're a small team of solopreneurs and indie operators. We've each built and run one-person businesses — consulting, content, SaaS, e-commerce. We were spending hours every week testing new tools, reading misleading reviews, and getting burned by paid placements disguised as honest recommendations.
So we decided to do it differently. RunSolo is the resource we wished existed when we started.
What We Do
We test AI tools and SaaS for solopreneurs. Not 5-minute demos. Not affiliate-driven listicles. Real testing — weeks of integration into actual business workflows — followed by honest write-ups.
If a tool wins, we say so. If it's overpriced, overhyped, or quietly broken, we say that too. If a free alternative is genuinely better, we recommend the free one even when there's a paid affiliate commission on the table.

How We Test
This is the part most "review sites" skip. Here's our exact process for every tool we cover.
Selection
We only test tools that real solopreneurs are using or asking about. No sponsored selections, no "we got a free demo so we wrote about it."
Real workflow integration
We don't sandbox tools. We integrate them into actual ongoing business workflows — invoicing, client communication, content publishing, automation pipelines — for a minimum of 2 weeks.
Daily usage tracking
We track setup time, daily usage time, learning curve, manual work created, manual work eliminated, and friction points. These numbers go into every review.
Honest assessment
Every review includes what works, what doesn't, where the tool falls short, and who shouldn't use it. We name names when something is overpriced or underperforms.
Updates
Tools change. Pricing changes. We update our top articles quarterly and flag major changes within 30 days. If a tool we recommended gets worse, we say so publicly.

How We Make Money
We use affiliate links. When you click through and sign up for a paid tool, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We don't sell sponsored placements, we don't take payment for reviews, and we don't gate content behind paywalls.
- We never rank tools based on commission rates. The best tool wins, even when the cheapest tool pays us nothing.
- We recommend free alternatives when they're genuinely better.
- Every affiliate link is clearly disclosed in the article footer.
- If a tool we have an affiliate relationship with stops being good, we say so publicly and remove the recommendation.
